direct hit

despite being under these pines for over two years this is the only pine cone that has landed in a bowl
 no shortage of pine cones
a well chewed cone maybe the squirrels nick them out of the bowls!
this bowl is the fullest and the level isn't going down
an example of the damage done by the fire that eventually kills of these oak trees
this is the pine stump carved by the master carver woodpecker it seems to be leaning more and more
is this a sculpture or a piece of junk waiting to go to the scrap merchant?

a boar on the other side

if you blow up the photo you might see a boar on the other side of the ravine, or at least a glinting eye, it didnt cross the bridge
a spiders web at the entrance to the tunnel shows that no large animals have gone in
this is an old olive stump so there must have been an olive grove here sometine in the  past
this is only the third lavander plant I've found in the park
the water in the bowl in the open seems to be turning green I'll keep an eye on it

water running into sanglier bowl

after the rain the water is running quite fast into the sangliers drinking bowl

I've started rolling up the wire of the electric fence that kept the horses in as they wont be back again
not as much rain as expected but the puddles filled up, a strong mistral wind means clear skies
 and good reflections

interestingly when I set up the camera yesterday it was still functioning on infra red  minutes later is was back on colour, I don't know why , light levels maybe

pine marten checking out the bowls

that pine marten is the most regular visitor at the moment he seems to check out each bowl

the mossy bowl is never full it must leak somewhere , we are expecting heavy rain so we'll see
I cleared out the puddle sculptures in order to monitor the changing situation

ceramics in nature

I decided to try photographing ceramic pieces up aucoustier instead of with the usual white background its an interesting experiment

 that green pool is mysterious
I used to know a lot about geology now I just see a pretty stone
 a misty drizzly day today
that woodpecker is a master carver

strange scratched marks on the rocks

strange markings on the rocks  wild boar?
nice reflected  pine tree despite grey skies and some rain
the recent winds brought down this oak tree that apparently survived a fire started by local kids 15 years ago, there are a few of them slowly dying off.
the woodpecker has had a go at carving it
the puddles seemed to disappear beneath the fallen oak leaves but now they are reappearing as the leaves shrink and darken with the rain

dogs and the pine marten

there was alot of dog activity in my absence at night
and day, just look at those flying ears
the pine marten was around again jumping from bowl to bowl

met up with this ageing hound who was a bit of a softy
 morning sunshine
water is running into this bowl fast enough to cause ripples
interesting colours developing on the sides
 these raindrops havent finished dropping
